New Classic Singers, under the direction of Lee R. Kesselman, will perform a full-length concert on Monday, January 12, at 8 p.m., on Live From WFMT, 98.7 FM. The program features the Chicago area's finest performing groups on the Chicago area's prestigious classical music station. The program is broadcast directly from WFMT's own studio in Chicago. Musical selections will include From the Heart, a New Classic Singers' commission by New York composer Daniel Brewbaker, and Sing Unto the Lord, a choral suite with harp by Canadian composer Srul Irving Glick in Hebrew and English. Other selections will include compositions and arrangements by Kirke Mechem, Gwyneth Walker and director Lee Kesselman. The program will also contain interviews with Mr. Kesselman. Accompanying the NCS in this Live From WFMT broadcast will be regular NCS pianist William Buhr, and Marguerite Lynn Williams, current acting harpist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. New Classic Singers has been a chorus in residence at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn since 1982. The 36 members include soloists, conductors, music teachers and other accomplished adult singers from throughout the Chicago metropolitan area.
